McCloud High School

Description

McCloud High School will provide an opportunity for students to become positive, informed individuals that have learned how to learn and bring value to society and therefore are able to obtain value for themselves. This will be accomplished by providing a learning environment that can adjust to fit many students’ needs. A positive relationship approach will be used by the staff to provide support for all students. The realization that success of the staff and the students are integrated together and as we improve the relationship with our students and provide them with the tools they need for success we can all achieve more together.

Description
Provides employment and training opportunities for young adults. Participants perform a variety of public service conservation projects. This includes:

  • Trail building

  • Tree planting

  • Parks development

  • Hazard mitigation

  • Food and fire emergency assistance

Both residential and non-residential programs are available statewide.

Eligibility:

Must be:
-California residents
-Ages 18 to 25
-Not on probation or parole
-Free of any convictions for a violent or felony drug crime. Drug test, physical exam, fingerprint and background check required.

Description
Provides activities that support high school and college students with disabilities, or who have an IEP or 504 Plan, in exploring and preparing for the world of work. Services are based on interests and include job exploration, options for education and training, on-the-job training, internships, and more.

Description

Provides counseling services for individuals, couples, children, and families, along with group counseling and parenting classes. Utilizes licensed psychologists, marriage and family therapists (LMFTs), clinical social workers (LCSWs), professional clinical counselors (LPCCs), and registered interns who are supervised by a licensed professional.

Description
Offers a hotline for youth who have run away or are considering running away from home and concerned family members. Services include:

  • Phone or online chat

  • Online forum

  • Help with identifying problems and solutions

  • Help with developing an action plan

Also provides the Home Free Program. In collaboration with Greyhound Lines, Inc., this program reunites youth (ages 12-21) with family free of charge. Once home, helps address issues, rebuild relationships, and connect to local community resources.

Provides one-on-one personal advocacy support for sexuality, pregnancy and parenting related concerns. Offers services in Mt. Shasta and Yreka. Volunteer advocates provide compassionate care for sexuality, pregnancy and parenting related concerns, including:

  • Pregnancy guidance and support

  • Parenting support via wide-ranging curriculum, books, and pamphlets and a confidential setting to learn and discuss concerns

  • Self-test pregnancy test availability (staff does not diagnose)

  • Practical resources such as baby items, clothing, blankets and car seats (as available)

  • Diapers and wipes once per week, one package per child

  • Personal emotional support for women, men, moms, dads, grandparents and other family members

  • Referrals to local social and family services

  • Sexual trauma concerns

  • Domestic violence concerns

  • Basic groceries including formula for clients on a limited basis.

Donations of maternity clothes and baby items (such as diapers, clothing, baby furniture and car seats) are welcome.

Description
As a California community college, offers a variety of Associate of Arts & Science degree programs, vocational/occupational degrees and certificate programs. Provides academic counseling, financial aid options, English as a Second Language (ESL) program and child care.

Its primary campus is located in Weed, and a smaller campus in Yreka. Each site has its own focus and course offerings. Also offers distance education and educational outreach.

America's Job Center

Description
Provides a comprehensive range of employment and training services in partnership with state and local agencies and organizations. These services benefit job seekers, laid off workers, youth, individuals currently working, veterans, people with disabilities, and employers.

EDD veterans’ representatives specialize in assisting veterans in their efforts to return to work. Services provided include a veteran 24-hour priority hold on all job listings, customized job search assistance, job fairs, employer recruitments, and other events and resources. Anyone who has served in the U.S. Armed Forces is encouraged to schedule an appointment with an EDD veterans’ representative for personalized services and assistance to achieve professional goals.

The Youth Employment Opportunity Program (YEOP) provides special services to youth ages 15-25 to assist them in achieving their educational and vocational goals. Working with peer advisors, youth clients interact with individuals who have similar life experiences and perspectives by providing referrals to supportive services, workshops, job and placement assistance, and other training and community outreach efforts.

The Migrant and Seasonal Farmworker (MSFW) Outreach Program provides a full range of employment services to agricultural employers and migrant, seasonal, or migrant food-processing workers.

Provides crisis intervention and advocacy services to offer support to victims of domestic violence and their children from the time of the incident and continuing throughout the legal process and recovery period. Description

Girls Inc. of the

Description
Provides educational programs and group mentoring for girls to help them develop the knowledge and skills they need to grow up healthy, educated and independent.

The evidence-based curriculum developed by and for Girls Inc. encourages girls to take healthy risks and master physical, intellectual, and emotional challenges. The curriculum is delivered at schools, both during and after the school day, and in community centers, reaching girls from all backgrounds and socioeconomic levels. Their programs are facilitated by trained female role models and supported by volunteers with professional backgrounds in fields such as education, finance, and STEM.

Description
Provides telephone, online private one-to-one chat and email peer-support, as well as factual information and local resources for cities and towns across the United States. All services are free and confidential. Trained volunteers speak with teens and young adults up to age 25 about coming-out issues, relationship concerns, parent issues, school problems, HIV/AIDS anxiety and safer-sex information, and other relevant topics.

Maintains a resource database that contains information on youth groups, social and support organizations, as well as gay-friendly religious organizations, sports leagues, students and other groups.
